ProFlex offers the latest in aquatic (or pool) therapy, with aquatic exercise, physical therapy, aquatic bodywork, and other movement-based programs performed in a specialized, temperature-controlled pool.
Aquatic therapy is often the answer for those patients who require physical therapy but are unable to tolerate treatment on land. The water’s buoyancy offers support, decreasing the force of stress on their joints. Additionally, the warmth of the water during aquatic exercise sessions helps relax muscles and increases blood flow to injured areas. This is especially helpful for patients suffering from arthritis, those who are overweight, or whose fractured bones are healing.
Some of the conditions we treat with aquatic therapy include:
- Pain management
- Posture/gait training
- Strengthening and endurance training
- Balance, coordination and agility
- Restoration of range of motion
- Pain and loss of motion due to arthritis
- Muscle spasms
- Back pain
